About Me
About Me
Hi, I’m Heather
A registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), based in the ACT.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working across Education and Care, and Community Services, supporting children, families, and the professionals who care for them. These experiences shaped my belief in the power of empathy, empowerment, and connection to create meaningful change.
My passion for counselling grew from my own experiences as a carer and my desire to support those who give so much of themselves to others. I understand how caring roles can impact wellbeing, relationships, and self-care — and I offer a space grounded in understanding, compassion, and respect.
I am committed to keeping my practice evidence-based, supportive, and ethical, regularly updating my knowledge in areas such as Emotional Intelligence, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, the PACE Attitude approach, Sand Play Therapy, and prevention of carer burnout. Outside of counselling, I enjoy life on my little suburban farm with my hubby, dogs, and chooks — finding balance in the garden and gratitude in the everyday.
I also volunteer with Lifeline as a Telephone Volunteer Crisis Supporter, continuing to develop personally and professionally. A Caring Place Counselling is not a crisis service and recommends that when a client experiences a crisis, they call Lifeline on 13 11 14
